Special Programs
Community Access Programs
- These programs are aimed at developing independence and confidence in the students.
- The programs seek to empower the students by providing them with real life experiences in using many facilities that are offered by the local and wider community.
- The focus is on honing skills in a real rather than a simulated environment.
- Skills in dealing with the public handling money, time management and road safety are reinforced, and students are taught how to use local transport services and how to read train and bus timetables.
- Examples of programs include: Girls Group, Shopping Trips and General Excursions.
TAFE and school based VET courses
- Courses may be available for students in Years 11-12, they will form part of their HSC study pathway. Classes of small number sizes and additional support staff (discrete classes) have been set up at some TAFE campuses to cater specifically for students who require support. Mainstream classes at any TAFE campus may still be accessed but this subject to availability and suitability. All students must go through an interview to process before being selected to enrol in any chosen course.
